WIP Wednesday – September 6, 2017

I missed this post last week, because I really didn’t have anything to report. I hadn’t been feeling well, so I got very little craft time in and it didn’t seem worthwhile to write a post on it. Good news though, I finally made space for my sewing machine this weekend so I have an update on my quilt!

First, these are the projects that (once again) I did not work on this week. I really need to get back to them, but other things have priority right now.

And now my update on my quilt from the Pins and Stripes Learn to Quilt Quilt Along designed by Tracy at It’s a T-Sweets Day!

It’s been a long, long time since I was able to work on this, and I was excited to get to work on it this weekend. So excited, that I finally got all my blocks put together! I still need to add the border, then quilt and bind it, but for that I need to make another trip to my local quilt store.

I’ve decided that I want to border the quilt in just one shade of pink (not sure if that will be light or dark yet), and I don’t have enough of either of the materials here to do it. I may have to get another pattern, but at any rate, it requires a trip to the store. I also need to get the material for the backing, and binding before I can continue. I’m hoping I can make that trip this coming weekend.

I also continued on with the Starlight Christmas Afghan for my friend. With 61 motifs in total, I am almost at the 1/4 mark on it. If I hadn’t spent most of the weekend sewing, I could have made a lot more progress, but hopefully I’ll have time after work this week to add a few more motifs.

I also started a super simple, no counting project this week, because I needed something effortless while I was feeling terrible, and vegging in front of the television screen. I started this garter stitch dish cloth. The pattern (if you can call it that) was on the package, and it’s super simple. Just cast on 37 stitches and then knit every row…easy right? Just what I was looking for.

And just to round things out, here’s a picture of my dog,Truffles, relaxing on the throws I have folded on my futon (for when I get cold and need to wrap up in a couple).

Were you busy this week? Do you have an opinion on what colour I should use for the border on my quilt? Dark pink, light pink, or something else? I’m also taking suggestions on the binding, and the backing, so if you have ideas please share them!

  1. Your quilt looks great! I’m not sure, but I wonder if some dark pink on the border or the binding would be a great frame for the whole thing. There are other much better than me at color, but that is my first thought. You don’t have to make progress on everything every week, just move forward in some way, which you did in spite of feeling poorly, so you should celebrate!

    1. Funny, I’m debating whether to use dark pink for the border or the binding too. I thought maybe for the border, and then the darker teal for the binding….or light pink border, with dark pink binding, and teal for the backing….I don’t know. I’ll ask for advice at the quilt shop I think…they may have a better idea, lol.
