Review: A Murderous Macaron by Fiona Grace

A Murderous Macaron is book 2 in Fiona Grace’s Beachfront Bakery cosy mystery series, and it was a pretty fun read.

Once again, Ali is investigating a murder to save her, and her bakery’s reputation after a famous vlogger suddenly keels over in her shop.

If you read book one in the series, we run into some familiar characters in this book, and meet a few newcomers to the town of Willow Bay.

Book two runs along similar lines to book one. Ali goes around town, trying to determine who poisoned the vlogger, and is trying to pin the murder on her. At the last moment she has an epiphany, confronts the culprit and saves the day.

I’m finding Ali’s ability to stand up to her family, or anyone really, a bit annoying. And as horrible as her mother appears to be, I’m not sure why she puts her long absent dad on such a pedestal. I get that she has good childhood memories of him, but surely those would have turned a bit bitter over the years after he abandoned his family?

Other than some of Ali’s bad decisions, and her relationship with her mom and older sister, this story was  enjoyable so  I’m moving on to book three.
