Review: A Treacherous Tart by Fiona Grace

Kindle ereader showing cover of book A Treacherous Tart by Fiona Grace

A Treacherous Tart is book 5 in Fiona Grace’s Beachfront Bakery cosy mystery series.

Ali is again accused of murder. This time there’s a famous hotdog eating contest in town. Ali is roped into baking the buns for the contest, and when one of the contestants drops dead in the middle of it, and it’s determined that he’s poisoned, she and her cooking companions are soon suspects in his murder.

Once again Ali is determined to solve the mystery, clear her name, and save her business.

This one was a little better than some of the previous books, but there are still issues with continuity, and similar to the Cake Pop book, there is not a single tart mentioned in this story. The girl runs a bakery, at least she could bake some tarts so that the title would make a bit of sense.

Despite its problems, the story was amusing, although I’m getting tired of Ali always being the accused. She could solve the mystery of one of her many friends being accused of murder…why is it always her?

At this point there’s only one book left in the series and I’m determined to finish it, just to see how Ali manages to get accused of murder next. I also want to see if she finally adopts the neighbourhood stray, and if she finds her father.
