Review: Powers and Thrones: A New History of the Middle Ages by Dan Jones

I stepped a bit outside my comfort zone with Powers and Thrones: A New History of the Middle Ages by Dan Jones, but I’ve always been interested in ancient and medieval history, and I’ve seen the author on some documentary shows, so I thought I would give at least one of his books a try.

Powers and Thrones covers a lot of history (almost a thousand years) in a book that is not a thousand pages long. As you can imagine, I learned a lot from this book. I found it very interesting, and not super dry, like some of the other non-fiction historical books I’ve read.

I think the author has a historical fiction series now, so I’ll be looking for that, and I won’t be afraid to check out more of his non-fiction books.
