I love a good Christmas anthology, and Ten Lords for the Holidays did not disappoint.
This is a bundle of historical novellas, most very light on the spice, but very enjoyable reads.
As an avid reader of historical romance, and one who picks up pretty much any Christmas themed anthology from year to year, I was familiar with a number of stories in this selection, but many of them were favourites so rereading them was a pleasure.
This book includes:
A First Footer for Lady Jane by Jennifer Ashley
I have read this one previously, but I can’t remember which collection it was in. It is a lovely story with a sweet matchmaking grandfather and I’ve enjoyed reading it several times in the past.
Lord Locryn and the Pixie’s Kiss by Deb Marlowe
This story was previously published in one of the Castle Keyvnor anthologies. It’s a sweet story about a Pixie whose actions have unexpected consequences for both her and the human she interferes with.
A Duke by Any Other Name by Claire Delacroix
This story was also published in one of the Castle Keyvnor anthologies. The Duke of Inverfyre is looking to clear his sisters name and catch a jewel thief, when he finds the woman he is destined to marry.
A Counterfeit Christmas Summons by Ava Stone
This is a Duke of Danby novel, in which the heroine is in love with her brother’s best friend, and has been since she was young.
Lady Holly’s Jolly Christmas by Nadine Millard
This story was one I had not previously read. It stars a mysterious, matchmaking stranger who shows up to a house party.
Christmas Kisses by Nicole Zoltack
This was also a new to me story, it was probably my least favourite, the story seemed very superficial and it seemed like every other female was pregnant by a man who was not her husband or betrothed.
The Duke Wager by Eve Pendleton
This was a new to me book, in which the heroine was studying to become a doctor. I really enjoyed this one and appreciated how supportive the hero was of the heroine’s ambitions.
A Prince for Yuletide by Anthea Sharp
I had read this story previously, although I don’t recall where. The prince disguises himself to attend a ball, in order to avoid the fallout from his reputation as being made of ice.
Rescued by a Christmas Kiss by Larissa Lyons
This was a new story for me, and I loved that some of the book was from the point of view of the hero’s pet cat. I also enjoyed that, although the hero was a shop owner (although he did have aristocratic roots).
Making Merry by Erica Ridley
I’m not sure how I missed this book last year when it was published but this is the prequel to the 12 Dukes of Christmas series. I really enjoyed seeing how the town of Cressmouth became the holiday themed town known as Christmas.
If you’re looking for some light Christmas themed romances, you can’t go wrong with this collection.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Ten Lords for Christmas will be available on October 24th 2023.
