Review: Highlands Christmas – Wishes Come True

Highlands Christmas – Wishes Come True by Amy Quick Parrish is a holiday novella set mostly in Scotland.

I was so looking forward to reading this book, because I love a good Christmas romance, unfortunately it was not as good as I was expecting.

This had such a great premise, the heroine takes off to Scotland after being dumped by her husband, only to continue finding herself in the company of his divorce lawyer.

In all fairness, it was a quick and entertaining read. There were quite a few scenes that made me laugh, so it wasn’t all bad.

Spoilers ahead.

My main issue was the way Melissa was portrayed. Initially, I felt bad for her and was cheering her on after her husband suddenly announced that he wanted a divorce.

I did question her sanity a bit when she packed up and left for Scotland with no real plan whatsoever. And that feeling only multiplied once she arrived there.

Who in their right mind moves into a house, and starts renovating it before completing paperwork to transfer ownership? Or at the very least, talking to the people who are supposed to be handling the transfer?

I feel sorry for Colin if these two end up together, because Melissa apparently has no common sense. Maybe that’s why her husband ditched her. And now I wonder if all the signs were there that he was cheating, and she just ignored them.

If you are really good at suspending disbelief, then this book may be for you.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
