Nature of the Crime by Cara Devlin is the sixth book in her Bow Street Duchess Mystery series, and while it may be more enjoyable to have read the previous books in the series prior to reading this book, I didn’t find it necessary, it could easily be read as a standalone.
Audrey, is accused of murdering a man, when a note is found on his body. She is desperate to clear her name, but things are not all as they seem. There seems to be a greater conspiracy going on, and in the end the culprits may surprise you, as they did me!
This was a very well done mystery, and I loved the historical setting.
Although there was not a lot of romance in this book, I did enjoy the relationship between Audrey and Hugh, and will look forward to reading more of this series to see how things develop. Since the whole series appears to be available on Kindle Unlimited, I’m pretty sure I’ll also be going back to see what I missed out on in the first 5 books.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Nature of the Crime was published on January 20 2024, and at the time of this post, is available in the Kindle Unlimited program if you want to check it out.
