I don’t know how she does it, but once again Claire Delacroix has penned a thrilling, action packed romance in The Stolen Bride, the third book in her series, The Brides of Inverfyre.
We’ve already met Ramsay MacLaren in a previous book, The Runaway Bride, when Evangeline released him from her father’s dungeon, and prevented his early demise. This book begins 5 years after their previous encounter.
Evangeline is a strong, independent woman who knows what she wants for her life but believes she must settle for an arranged marriage due to her advancing age. As the first chapter opens, Evangeline is on her way to meet her betrothed.
Ramsay in the meantime, has never forgotten Evangeline and having heard of her upcoming marriage and knowing the less than stellar reputation of the man she is supposed to marry, decides he must warn her. His true dream is to claim her for himself, but he believes that any match between them would be doomed since his family and hers have been bitter enemies for many years.
The action in this book starts almost from the first chapter, and doesn’t stop until nearly the end. It kept me glued to the page from start to finish because I couldn’t wait to see what would happen next.
This book has it all; highway robbery, murder, attempted murder, an escape, a chase, recapture, a challenge, and finally a family gathering. And somehow, with all that action, there is still time for some romantic moments. It was just a wonderful story, and one I’ve been anticipating since reading of Ramsay and Evangeline’s first encounter with each other in the previous book. Their story was well worth the wait.
