ARC Review: Mall Priest 3: The End Of Everything by Chris Heinicke and Kate Reedwood

Mall Priest 3: The End of Everything is the third, and final book in the Mall Priest series by Chris Heinicke and Kate Reedwood, and was a spectacular finale to the series.

The End of Everything sees a return to the camaraderie and loyal friendships of the first book, as opposed to book two which was filled with people who were not who they appeared to be. There were so many betrayals in that book, it was a really stressful read. Happily, that was not the case here, which was good because there were enough stressful events happening!

Speaking of friendships, all our old favourites (Father Sam, Sarah, Bella, Ricky, and now three year old Little Ricky along with a few others) are back from book two, as well as one or two surprises! In particular, I was happy to see the return of one of my favourite characters from book one.

Book three also returns to a slightly lighter tone, not quite as comedic as book one (although there were a few scenes that made me laugh out loud), but not as dark as book two. I thought it struck the perfect balance between the two.

I generally speed through the books in this series in one sitting, but I forced myself to read this one in small chunks because I just did not want the series to end. I can’t tell you how difficult it was to make myself put the book down, each chapter had so much going on that I didn’t want to stop reading.

If you love rooting for the underdog against hordes of people possessed by demons, and other beings with scary, supernatural powers, with a bit of comic relief to ease the tension, then Mall Priest 3: The End of Everything may be a good fit for you. It’s a lighter horror, that will have you on the edge of your seat, waiting to see what will happen next.

I received an advance review copy for free, and any thoughts expressed here are my honest opinions.

Mall Priest 3: The End Of Everything will be available on April 12 2024.
