ARC Review: The Hellion’s Heart by Claire Delacroix

The Hellion’s Heart is book 4 in Claire Delacroix’s series, “The Ladies’ Essential Guide to the Art of Seduction. Although the entire series is wonderful, this book could easily be read on its own.

Our heroine, Helena Emerson is young, and has her heart set on marrying the Duke of Haynesdale when she meets Joshua Hargood, the 7th Viscount of Addersley. He immediately decides that she would make him a suitable wife but she’s resistant due to his seemingly cheerless nature and his advanced age (he’s 30), so he sets out to win her over.

The couple has many things to overcome; Helena’s romantic and impulsive nature, and Joshua’s extreme caution in doing anything risky or remotely enjoyable, not to mention the mystery of who has been sending Joshua threatening notes, and the return of a brother thought to be dead.

The Hellion’s Heart was deliciously entertaining. Helena’s inner thoughts on Joshua’s age were hilarious, and kept me laughing throughout the book. Her adventuresome spirit was the perfect complement for Joshua’s self-imposed seriousness, their opposite natures allowing them to temper each other’s behaviour so that neither went to extremes as they tended to do individually.

The Hellion’s heart was such a treat to read, I can’t recommend it enough. I believe it’s my new favourite in this series.

The Hellion’s Heart will be available to buy on July 22 2024.
