A Wonderful Christmas Crime by Jacqueline Frost is book 6 in her Christmas Tree Farm Mysteries series.
Holly and her friends in Mistletoe Maine are once again drawn into investigating a murder as Christmas approaches when a woman is found dead and one of their close friends is found over her body, and worse the friend had an altercation with the woman earlier in the evening and there were several witnesses.
Murders aside, I love visiting the town of Mistletoe, and reading about the traditions the town celebrates as the holiday season approaches. It sounds like such a lovely place to celebrate (again, if you don’t count the annual murders). And the people in Mistletoe make it seem like the ideal place to live and raise a family. I love the sense of community amongst the characters, it make reading this series a pleasure.
In this book, Holly tries to take more of a back seat in solving the mystery. She’s involved because she can’t help herself, but she tries to stay lowkey so she’s doing more online research and depending on other people to do more of the legwork, and in person interviews. Despite that, the book kept things interesting, with a few side mysteries, one of which almost brought me to tears when they solved it.
I really enjoyed this mystery, and visiting Mistletoe at Christmas time once again. I hope to read more of this series in the future. I still haven’t read a few of the earlier books in the series, but hope to get around to them soon.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
A Wonderful Christmas Time will be available on October 21 2025.
