Janae Sanders’ Second Time Around by LaQuette is a standalone contemporary romance that takes place in the small town of Monroe Hills.
Janae has sworn off men, and dating, after a somewhat bitter divorce, but when Adam Henderson, her childhood crush, and former school rival, walks through the door unexpectedly, she can’t deny the attraction she feels toward him.
Adam is a former NBA player, who gave up on his father’s dream, and became a teacher. Now he’s returned to his hometown as a superintendent in the school system where Janae’s son attends. Adam and Janae find themselves at odds when Adam cancels the extracurricular programs that her son is depending on to help get him into college.
Overall I really enjoyed Janae Sanders’ Second Time Around. I loved the characters, and their relationships. It truly did feel small town, where everyone knows each other and everyone knows everyone else’s business.
I would recommend this book to any lover of contemporary romance, and will be looking for more books by this author for myself.
