ARC Review: The Book Tour by Emily Ohanjanians

The Book Tour is Emily Ohanjanians’ debut novel, a romcom about a woman who has written a book based on the subject of her popular podcast, and the ensuing tour to promote her book.

I was just irritated by the main character, Ana,  and her attitude. Despite the fact that her podcast supposedly started as a positive affirmation of her cousin, it felt like everything was about her, and how it affected her, and what she wanted. Even when other people expressed their wants, and concerns, she ignored them if they conflicted with what she wanted. Especially in one of the circumstances in the book, it was kind of disturbing.

I really liked the love interest, Ryan, but although it’s clear there was a strong attraction between him and Ana, I’m not sure I believed their romance. But maybe that feeling is due to my dislike of Ana’s character.

I did like seeing the relationship between Ana and her cousin and their parents, and their struggle to live their own lives while dealing with the expectations of their parents. This was especially true of Ana, and her somewhat overbearing mother, and her passive aggressive comments practically every time something came out of her mouth. In that aspect Ana had more patience than I would have, I think.

The Book Tour was just an okay read for me, I think other people may love it, I just couldn’t connect with the main character and that ruined the book for me.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

The Book Tour will be available on March 3 2026.
