Yet Another Hobby: Fantasy Maps

I mentioned a while ago that I have taken up watercolour painting. One of the Facebook groups I’m in posts weekly challenges, and a few weeks ago, the challenge word was maps. I decided that for my interpretation, I would draw and paint a fantasy map, so I spent a whole day watching videos on how to draw a fantasy map, and now I think I’m addicted to drawing them.

I was too proud of my first attempt to paint it, I was afraid I would ruin it, so I drew a second in my painting journal and painted it instead.

And now I keep wanting to draw more fantasy maps! I have one in progress and another that I’m staring to plan, and I’ve ordered larger paper so that I can add legends and additional fun stuff. Luckily this hobby crosses over into several hobbies I already enjoy, so my only investment is time, a few books on fantasy map making, and larger paper.

I wonder how many people are like me and find themselves starting new hobbies relatively frequently.
