The Grave Song is book 4 in Andrew James Gregg’s Detective Corstorphine series. I have only read one book, but each book can easily be read as a standalone novel. There are occasionally minor references to things that occurred in previous books, but nothing that affects the main mystery.
The Grave Song grabbed my attention right away, and although this is a slower police procedural so there isn’t a lot of action, the story is compelling and kept my attention throughout.
The story is told in third person from multiple points of view. The main point of view is that of detective Corstorphine, but also includes those of various characters. It gives the reader insight into the mind set of some of the suspects but doesn’t give away enough to be able to easily guess the ending.
I enjoyed The Grave Song, it was full of family secrets and scandals, and threw in a few red herrings along the way to keep the reader guessing. If you’re a fan of old fashioned mysteries I think you’ll love The Grave Song, and would probably enjoy other books in the series.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
The Grave Song will be available on June 5 2026.
