Today’s tea is Organic Saigon Chai, and it looks and smells very Christmasy. It’s a black tea with cinnamon, cardamom, ginger and peppercorns. There are red peppercorns in this which is what makes it look Christmasy, and the cinnamon gives it a Christmasy smell. (Yes, I know I”m using the word Christmasy a lot, but it’s appropriate.)

The cinnamon is strong in this tea. It’s so strong that I didn’t taste any other flavour, including that peppery ginger taste that I disliked in yesterday’s mint tea. I found though that the cinnamon made this tea taste, hmm, how to describe it, dry is the only thing I can think of. It was like eating something that has plain cinnamon sprinkled on it, not nearly as enjoyable as if you mix it with a bit of sugar or something sweet. So I pulled out some stevia and added just a touch, and it improved the taste dramatically.
I like this tea but I think I would probably only buy it around Christmas, and serve it with a few sweet treats.
Tomorrow’s post may be a bit late, or may not get posted until Saturday morning. I’m headed out to see Peter Pan and Wendy at a local theatre, and I’m not sure what time I’ll be home. I’m hoping early enough that I can relax with some tea before bed, and write up my thoughts on it.
I love the movie Peter Pan!

It’s a pity about the dry taste. Have heaps of fun at the theatre!

Too bad about the cinnamon. I think that would make me not want to drink it. 🙂
