Tea Advent Calendar Day 24 – Santa’s Secret

Santa's Secret

It’s the final day for my Advent Calendar and it feels kind of bitter sweet. I have enjoyed sharing my tea with you all each day, and I will miss that, however, it was also tough some days to find the time to post. Now for today’s tea which is appropriately named Santa’s Secret.

Santa’s Secret is a black tea, which the David’s Tea website says contains a blend of peppermint and candy cane sprinkles. Well, the sprinkles are definitely there, but I’m not so sure about the peppermint (which was fine with me, because as I’ve said before, I’m not a big fan of mint teas of any kind).

When I opened this tin and smelled the tea I thought it smelled very sweet. I’m not sure what the scent actually was, I kind of want to say vanilla, but I’m not absolutely sure. It definitely did NOT smell like peppermint. It reminded me of the smell of cookie dough, maybe that’s where the vanilla part came to mind.

Since this was a black tea, I steeped it for 5 minutes with nearly boiling water, and when it was finished, my kitchen smelled amazing! The scent of this tea really took over after steeping. I relaxed with this tea this afternoon and it really was nice. I won’t say it was sweet exactly, but I didn’t need to add any sugar or even milk to it. It was very smooth, without even a hint of bitterness, and no hint of peppermint either.

I really enjoyed Santa’s Secret, and I would definitely have it again…maybe with a shortbread cookie or two!

That’s it for this year’s Advent Calendar! I would like to take this opportunity to thank anyone who has followed along, or visited my blog this year, and wish you all a Merry Christmas, or if you don’t celebrate Christmas, Happy Holidays!

  1. Merry Christmas! So sad that the tea advent calendar has come to an end. It was so much fun to live this big box of yum with you. I agree, this one here needs some shortbread cookies with it. Today’s tea of choice, for me, has been English Breakfast with some Panettone on the side. So basic, but the anis-orange-raisin flavor of the panettone goes so well with English breakfast (and – totally weird – but also instant coffee, I know, totally wrong!). Have fun on Christmas morning!
