I have to tell you, this one smells so, so, yummy, it almost makes me want to run out and buy some real pound cake. Or I could just sit and smell the tea in the tin all day, and dream about it! The description for Lemon Pound Cake says it’s a buttery, citrus oolong. Oolong is one of my favourite types, so I have high hopes for this tea. Plus as already stated, it smells heavenly..lemony, sweet, and creamy. Yum!

Tea Advent Calendar Day 13 – Organic Cinnamon Rooibos Chai
Well, I wasn’t thrilled when I saw today’s tea, Organic Cinnamon Rooibos Chai, especially after the last tea which had a lot of cinnamon. Don’t get me wrong, I love cinnamon, but in some things a little goes a long way, and in most cases, tea is one of those things.
Tea Advent Calendar Day 12 – Coffee Pu’erh
Today’s tea was Coffee Pu’erh. What? You don’t think coffee and tea belong together? I used to feel that way, and while it wouldn’t be my every day choice, one of my favourite teas is one called jumpy Monkey, which contains coffee beans.
Tea Advent Calendar Day 11 – Alpine Punch
Today’s tea is Alpine Punch, a new tea for me, and when I opened it up and smelled it, it smelled quite sweet, and reminded me of almonds. It almost smelled like when you open a bottle of almond extract when baking. When I looked on the David’s Tea website, it described it as an almond scented tea with apples, cinnamon, ginger, and nuts.
Alpine Punch is a rooibos tea and is steeped at almost boiling point. I steeped mine for 5 minutes. After steeping the almond scent is still strong, and the tea itself is a nice dark colour.
This tea has a natural sweetness and I didn’t require any additional sweeteners when drinking it. It definitely tastes of almonds. It is a nice smooth tasting tea, with no hint of bitterness. The apples, cinnamon, ginger, and nuts are not really detectable to me. I’m sure they are there, and probably help contribute to the wonderful flavour, but thank goodness they don’t overwhelm the almond taste.
Since I had lots of points left today, I decided to treat myself to a couple of the premium Belgian cookies I bought a few days ago while enjoying my tea. And now that this post is almost ready, I’m going to do just that!
Tea Advent Calendar Day 10 – Walnut Orange Scone
Today I drove to Smiths Falls to a little cafe to have lunch with the girls I’ll be cruising with in February. They’re all from Kingston, so we chat a lot on Facebook, but we don’t see each other in person very often. We had a fantastic lunch, exchanged Christmas gifts, and had a long, long visit.
I love scones, and the cafe had an amazing looking Caramel Pecan Scone with glaze on it, and it looked delicious. It was really hard to resist it…I almost bought one to bring home, divide up and freeze, but I resisted and I’m happy that I did. I can make scones at home, and they won’t be covered in sugary glaze, and I’m sure I will enjoy them. So when I opened today’s tea and saw that it was Walnut Orange Scone, it seemed like it was just meant to be!
